We Are Kings red carpet premiere showcased in Los Angeles, California, September 19, 2014, at the Arena Cinema. Many entertainment faces came down to show their support for this incredible event. The whole night was filled with entertainment interviews, movie screening, and an after-party at Sadie’s. With high level energy and a fun night; there was nothing more to be asked for an exceptional night.
We Are Kings is centrally based about two struggling night club owners, played by Sammy Blue (IB King) and Rita Graham (Lily King). The couple endure many financial hardships with keeping their night club afloat, but eventually find themselves destitute on the street. The illness of Lily King causes IB King to make life changing decisions. He eventually meets up with the Executive Producer, played by Tim Arnold. The meeting ends up failing, causing IB King to fall into depression and wanting to end his life. Miraculously IB King is found in the cold weather by two young artist played by Jonathan “Boogie” Long (Dustin Ladue) and Bianca Ryan (Layla Knuckles). Dustin and Layla had hardship struggles of their own, which eventually led them to cross paths with IB King. The trio worked out a plan to perform together, in effort to make income. As the trio worked several gigs, cash flow trickled slowly. They discovered another way to recoup their profit at a high school function. During the high school gig, they run into Sam, who is played by Pryce Watkins. Sam is another struggling soul needing an uplift and change in his life. Eventually trouble loomed over Sam and Layla with the police, but an angle comes to the rescue to help the two out. On their journey back to meet up with IB King, Sam discovers an idea to save the night club. The night club is eventually saved, Lily King is back to good health, and (IB, Lilly, Layla, Sam, and Dustin) make their record.
The concept of this road movie musical definitely signifies a aspect about strength, dreams, and never giving up. Certainly, as musician’s there is a clear understanding of excelling and persevering throughout life’s journey, but never giving up. We Are Kings give you a true sense of ending up a winner, delivers comical humor, awesome music, and leaves a good feeling to the soul. True love and soul makes a strong place in We Are Kings!

What more can be said about We Are Kings? Love, compassion, strength, and pride from the heart. Director: Toby Hubner certainly signified real heart and soul from We Are Kings. He incorporated many symbols throughout his film body that represented struggles and strength of rising above. Many symbols will have to be recognized for yourself. Toby Hubner has been directing, producing, and writing films for over 20 plus years. To focus on an independent film and deliver with passion, certainly shows in perspective of his creative vision.
The aspect of bringing on such dynamic and talented cast members was a stellar pick for this independent film. Of course all of these individuals have many years of music experience in the industry, but to cross over to acting is a strong conceptual choice, that holds true on screen.

Rita Graham is not a newbie in the entertainment eyes either. She first got her start with The Raelettes, which was produced by Ray Charles. Rita went on to perform with Harry James, Mercer Ellington, and numerous of other notable musicians, during her career. She has been performing for over 30 plus years as a singer, two years as an actress, but resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Although, Rita has been in the acting field two years, her performance is very natural and likable on screen. Keep a look out for Rita Graham on other upcoming movie projects. Jonathan “Boogie” Long is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was centrally raise around a Southern Baptist community. Growing up over the years, he found blues to stick to the core root of his bones. Mr. Long has been performing music for over 19 years, but acting for several years. In 2011, Boogie Long was crowned Guitar Center’s “King of the Blues” from a field of over 4,000 contestants, in the competition for #1 Unsigned Blues Guitarist in America.
